30 Attend Leadership Training Program!!!!
"Their leader will be one of their own; their ruler will arise from among them. I will bring him near and he will come close to me, for who is he who will devote himself to be close to me?' declares the LORD. Jeremiah 30:21"
Since the days of Abraham, Moses, and Jacob God has been sending out the call for young people to step up and lead his people. Almost every time the call went out it was sent out during a time when the people of God were in despair and on the brink of hopelessness. Throughout history when Gods people were in despair God called the young to set his people free from the chains of slavery and oppression. The reason is simple, young people will believe in you if you'll believe in them. They will fearlessly take up a cause if you get them to believe in it.
One of the most pressing needs in the International Churches of Christ over the past five years has been for young people to raise up and lead out! Though several young men and women have raised up in the last few years many more are still needed. The need has been for the young to inspire the church with their zeal and vision. It is the responsibility of the young to set the example in faith.
God has been working powerfully in the Austin International Church of Christ in 2008. Since January 1st we've seen six people baptized in the campus ministry, a new campus ministry started in Lubbock, and an amazing singles retreat hosted here in Austin. With all of this going on the need for people to step up and lead has become more and more evident. The Spirit of God has been moving in the hearts of the brothers and sisters of the campus and singles ministry to volunteer to serve in the role of leadership. Saturday May 31st marked the beginning of the campus and singles small group leadership training program of the Austin International Church of Christ. By the power of God we had "30" people attend our first meeting with five more expressing the desire to serve in that role. The first lesson was entitled "The Heart of a Leader." one of the most inspiring things about the class was seeing people who have been burned in the past, answer the call to lead again. It was also encouraging to see the new Christians that showed up to the class with the heart to do anything for God. Brothers and sisters God is raising up an army of leaders through out our fellowships. Let us pray continually to be led by the Spirit and lead the movement of God forward in a righteous and faithful way!
In Christ!
