Spring Break Mission Trip
While Spring Break is a time most college students go off to places like South Padre Island, the Austin campus ministry spent the break taking a mission trip to Texas Tech University. The adventure with a couple days of camping at Palo Duro Canyon. While the canyon was inspiring, the nighttime temperatures were freezing! Nevertheless, our hearts were stirred by prayer and worship under the starry Texas sky.
On Sunday, we had the privilege of worshiping with the Amarillo Church. After service, the disciples treated us to a potluck lunch and an afternoon of sight-seeing in the Amarillo area. After taking in what Palo Duro Canyon had to offer, we left with hearts eager to get to our next destination -- Lubbock! When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the disciples at the home of Roddy and Mary Oaks.
The following morning marked our first day of evangelism at Texas Tech University. After prayers for faith and boldness were offered up to God, we embarked on what would be a miraculous day! Hundreds of students were reached out to as we shared our faith and hosted Bible talks. By the end of the day we had started two Bible studies with guys on campus. The following day God moved powerfully as we meet fifteen different people who studied the Bible. In all, 17 people studied the Bible over the two days! The highlight was when Tim McClellon was baptized after only two days of studying the Bible!
We are humbled and blessed to have had the opportunity to serve the Lubbock church and to help establish the beginnings of a campus ministry at Tech. God was truly faithful in giving us more than we could ask or imagine. We are so grateful for the opportunity he gave us to witness His power during our Spring Break Mission Trip!
